Robert E. Powell, DDS

A practicing general dentist in Asheville for more than 30 years, Dr. Powell's passion is helping patients achieve a beautiful, healthy smile. His expertise extend to performing more than 3,000 CEREC procedures and earning certification as a Limineers® provider.
   

His interest in dentistry began while he was studying biology at Southern Missionary College in Collegedale, Tenn. He went on to earn his D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) from the School of Dentistry at Loma Linda University in California.
   

In 1974, Dr. Powell opened a private practice in the heart of historic Biltmore Village. Hurricane Frances demolished that office in 2004. So while working out of temporary quarters, he planned and furnished the state-of-the-art facility he practices in today.
   

Committed to providing the best, most advanced dental care, Dr. Powell keeps up to date on advances in the dental field and enhances his skills by attending courses in cosmetics, prosthodontics and endodontics. He has studied with some of the country's leading dental authorities, such as Dr. Dan Poticny, Dr. Robert Conrad and Dr. Peter K. Dawson. Dr. Powell is currently taking advanced studies with leading industry programs such as Tulsa Dental, and the National Dental Network.
   

Dr. Powell is a member of several professional organizations including the Buncombe County Dental Society, the North Carolina Dental Society and the American Dental Association. He is a founding member of the Western North Carolina CEREC Study Club and an active member of the Academy of CAD/CAM Dentistry (ACCD).

Callan D. White, DDS

Asheville Dental Care welcomes Dr. Callan White to our team.  A native of Bryson City, N.C., Dr. White is thrilled to be home practicing dentistry in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

Dr. White holds a BS in Zoology form North Carolina State University and graduated among the top of his class from the University of North Carolina Dental School.  A practicing general dentist, Dr. White chose to join the team of Asheville Dental Care because of our commitment to offering the most advanced and up-to-date services and technology the dental field has to offer.

A lover of people and commitment to help are what first attracted Dr. White to the field of dentistry.  Just like Dr. Powell, Dr. White believes the experience of getting to know and work with his patients is just about the best part of his "dental day".

Dr. White counts the advancements in technology among one of his many hobbies, and uses this passion to drive his commitment to attending advanced courses that ensure he remains cutting edge in the field of dentistry.  He is a member of several professional organizations including, American Dental Association and the North Carolina Dental Society.

We are excited to have Dr. White as a member of our team, and we invite you to come by and meet him.  This September, he is going to marry his wonderful fiance (and practicing dentist) Dr. Allison Perry.

Kelly is likely to be the first person you speak to when you call the office and the first smiling face you see when you come for your appointment. A certified dental assistant, Kelly's more than 14 years of dental experience means your dental issues are understood immediately when you contact our office. Kelly's background and education allow her to ascertain the services you need and schedule you correctly. Kelly is a graduate of Asheville-Buncombe Technical College and is radiology certified.

Nicole Grindstaff

Dental Assistant

A lover of details and a strong commitment to organization are what make Nicole invaluable as a dental assistant.  She has worked in the field of dentistry for more than six years, focusing her training on dental surgery, endodontics and the latest technology, including CEREC.  Nicole enjoys working with patients, sharing the latest technology with them and assisting Dr. Powell in one-on-one patient care.  Committed to her personal growth and development, Nicole is currently studying CEREC design.

Eve Moretz

Dental Assistant

Known for an exceptionally gentle touch, Eve is a certified dental assistant, and has been in practice since 2002. She is a graduate of Asheville-Buncombe Technical College and is radiology certified. Eve is focusing her practice on the CEREC System and currently is training to design CEREC restorations.

Brea McAlister

Dental Assistant

The desire to give patients a true "dental experience" is what brought Brea McAlister to Asheville Dental Care.  A dental assistant, Brea was looking for a position where she could combine her love of people with her exceptional skills in dentistry; and Asheville Dental Care was happy to provide her that opportunity.  A native of Western North Carolina, Brea is a graduate of Brevard High School and received her education in dental assisting from Asheville Buncombe Technical College.  Brea brings more than four years experience to her new role, and she will work side-by-side assisting both Dr. Powell and Dr. White.

Julie Perone

Hygienist

Julie brings great knowledge and exceptional interest in the field of restorative, preventive and cosmetic dentistry.  Julie attended Western Carolina University to study both general education and nutrition, a perfect background, as she enjoys working with our patients helping them to understand the role dental health plays in their overall quality of life.  Julie is trained as both a dental assistant and a dental hygienist.  Her diverse educational background, combined with her experience and lovely outgoing personality make her a wonderful addition to our team. 

Brandi Ball

Hygienist

Brandi brings commitment to patient care and continuous learning to her work with Asheville Dental Care.  Trained in both the areas of dental assisting and dental hygiene, Brandi graduated in 2005 from Asheville Buncombe Technical College with an Associates Degree of Science in Dental Hygiene.  Upon graduation she was awarded the prestigious Hu-Friedy Golden Scholar Award for Clinical and Academic Excellence.  Her desire to remain a leader in the field of dental technology, is what first brought her to Asheville Dental Care.  She is well reguarded by her patients and her teammates for the talent she has of combining her exceptional skill set with a warm, friendly relationship with her patients.
